JDK not found on Installing Android SDK

So last night I was installing Android SDK r8 on Windows 7 64bit and using JDK 6 64bit.

The installer gave me this…

But I have installed JDK, so somehow the installer cannot find my JDK path and adding JDK location to my PATH doesn’t solve it.

I’ve googled about it, and some people have this solutions:

But I don’t want to do those 😀 I have 64bit environment, so I want to use JDK 64bit (mainly because I am too lazy to re-download those)

And then I found this discussion here that tells me to change some registry key, because the SDK installer somehow is looking for 32bit JDK path.

and apply some changes so it will be imported to

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\]

(basically just find-and-replace

Below is the new registry file, I save it to .reg extension and Import it to my registry. Voila! my Android SDK r8 now works!

Flutter doctor: No Java Development Kit (JDK) found on Windows 11

The problem: When you run flutter doctor , you get a “no Java Development Kit (JDK) found” error:

The solution: Install a Java Development Kit, then set the environment variables

Download and install a JDK

Download the file and run the installer.

Add the JAVA_HOME environment variable and update the PATH

Now for the “fun” part: You may have to manually edit the JAVA_HOME and PATH environment variables on your Windows system. In the example below, I’m using JDK19. Please make sure to adapt the instructions so they match your particular setup.

1. Locate your JDK installation directory. The default path is usually C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-19 , but it can vary depending on your installation settings. Make sure to copy this path for later use.
2. Right-click on the Windows Start button and select System.
3. In the System window, click on Advanced system settings:

1. In the System Properties window, click on the Environment Variables button near the bottom right:

1. Under System variables, click on the New button.
2. Enter the variable name JAVA_HOME . As the variable value, enter the path to your JDK installation directory from the first step:

For example, if your JDK is installed in C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-19 , then the value should be C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-19 .

1. Click OK to save the new environment variable.
2. In the System Variables list, locate the Path variable, and click Edit.
3. In the Edit environment variable window, click New, and add %JAVA_HOME%\bin to the list. This ensures that the JDK executables are available in your system’s PATH.

1. Click OK to save the changes to the Path variable, and close all remaining windows by clicking OK as well.

Please keep in mind that you will need to open a new Command Prompt window for the changes to take effect, as the environment variables are loaded when the Command Prompt is launched.

To verify the changes, you can run echo %JAVA_HOME% in a new Command Prompt window. This should display the path to your JDK installation directory. Running java -version should display the version information of your JDK 19 installation.

Finally, running flutter doctor should show that the “No Java Development Kit (JDK) found” error has disappeared:

fix: Java SE Development Kit (JDK) was not found on this computer

I was just installing the fine IDE NetBeans 6.9 and its installer asked me to install the Java JDK first. It was saying «Java SE Development Kit (JDK) was not found on this computer» (see screenshot). The dialog points one to download the JDK at http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads. Since Oracle acquired Sun, now that redirects to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html.

The JDK seems to be included in Java SDK now together with GlassFish Enterprise Server, so their page takes you to that when you ask for the latest JDK (btw, the version numbers can confuse you since the SDK has a lower version number than the JDK that’s included in it).

After installing the SDK (JDK and GlassFish etc.), I created a batch file (install-netbeans.bat) to launch the NetBeans installer with the appropriate parameter (was too bored to try the alternative of setting the JAVA_HOME environment variable in Computer’s Advanced Properties at Windows):

netbeans-6.9-ml-windows.exe -javahome «c:/somefolderpath/glassfishv3/jdk/bin»

…but I kept on getting the same error dialog again and again. Then I did a web search for «netbeans installer javahome» and came across FaqInstallJavaHome NetBeans wiki entry where I noticed that whereas Netbeans 4.x/5.x used «-is:javahome», NetBeans 6.x uses «–javahome».

YES, WITH TWO DASHES IN FRONT of «javahome» installer argument! Totally foreign syntax to Windows world (but not to Unix commands and the Java runtime launcher syntax [at least in recent years]). Even worse is that it’s almost impossible to notice the double dash with the font face used in that error dialog.

All was finally fine using this one (just added the extra dash to write –javahome instead of -javahome):

netbeans-6.9-ml-windows.exe –javahome «c:/somefolderpath/glassfishv3/jdk/bin»

Intellij жалуется на наличие jdk, но у меня установлен 18 jdk, как исправить ситуацию?

Только начинаю разбираться, поэтому не знаю, что сделать. Может он жалуется вообще на отсутствие какого-либо jdk, а не именно 11? Может мне нужно где-то найти, где я могу установить установленный jdk

Там вверху есть синяя полоска и написано, что jdk 11 не найден. Также предлагает скачать jdk 11.
Ваш проект использует jdk 11. Нажмите ctrl + shift + alt + S и в настройках выберите соответствующий jdk.

а в этом проекте используются какие-то устаревшие добавления или что-то в старого jdk? Может в новом jdk что-то не так задаётся и можно правильней(новее) написать?

File -> Project Structure — это настройки проекта, можно там поменять на 18ю, если хотите (по-моему также придётся перезапустить ИДЕЮ после изменения).

А по мысли о «в новом писать новее» — java обратную совместимость официально поддерживает.
