Beta (Java Edition)

Beta — версия Minecraft перед релизом. Она была анонсирована в блоге Нотча 11 декабря 2010 и вышла спустя девять дней, 20 декабря [1] . Minecraft Beta is a brand-new launcher for starting the original PC version of the legendary video game Minecraft: Java Edition that has managed to find hundreds of millions of fans from all around the world.

This new version of the game was built to facilitate the future expansion of Minecraft-related content on Desktop, with a new launcher having the capability to streamline player access to base Minecraft game and future games in the Minecraft universe such as the celebrated singleplayer adventures Minecraft: Dungeons and Minecraft: Story Mode. So, Minecraft Beta does not signify some early or incomplete version of the game, but it instead represents a new front-end for a proven megahit Minecraft: Java Edition that all of its players know and love.

Minecraft is a sandbox video game with a first-person perspective that allows players of all ages to explore a procedurally-generated 3D world, fight opponents, mine materials, craft items, and use their imaginations to build new structures (from small objects to large and intricate cities) both alone and with help of friends in online servers. The visual style of the game has adopted a crude but eye-catching theme of large blocks, which are used to make the entire environment – from the highest mountain peaks to the deepest underground caves.

Players are tasked to explore this environment, use their pickaxe to chip away blocks, find resources everywhere around them, and use the gathered materials to craft new items that can help them create a perfect home, farm, city, or anything else they imagine. Since some game modes have global quests, players can also try to “finish” this sandbox game by visiting several realms, finding magical items, and defeating the final dragon boss battle.

The game features multiple game modes that promote different types of gameplay styles, with “survival mode” being one of the most popular. Gamers also have a large set of tools for changing the game, not only with mods that tweak built-in gameplay systems but also introduce brand new items, gameplay mechanics, items, assets, and rendering procedures.

Since it rarely requires fast-paced gameplay and instead focuses on open-ended gameplay, freeform exploration, and finding fun in cooperative tasks, Minecraft is a game for all ages. And its latest version found in Minecraft Beta for Windows PC introduces a new launcher that allows easier Minecraft Universe content discovery.

How to join the beta for Minecraft: Java Edition

Rather than enrolling in a dedicated beta program, Minecraft: Java Edition allows you to select a slice of pre-release software for you to try.

The Java Edition of Minecraft is often considered to be the quintessential Minecraft experience by many hardcore Minecraft fans. So it stands to reason that Mojang would offer a way to test upcoming updates before their official release. Mojang often releases updates and such for Minecraft: Java Edition weeks or even months before the cross-platform Bedrock Edition sees it.

However, the beta for the Minecraft: Java Edition is a little different from others you may have participated in. Instead of having you enroll in a beta program, Mojang instead releases snapshots. These are miniature versions of the game that you run independently of the public release of Minecraft, strictly to try and test upcoming updates. Snapshots are released periodically, so be sure to check in from time to time for news on the latest releases.

How to use snapshots in Minecraft

If you’re worried about the complexity of playing with snapshots in Minecraft: Java Edition, don’t be! None of the betas for Minecraft are particularly difficult to participate in, but the Java Edition is definitely the easiest to wrap your head around. Here’s the step-by-step.

1. Open the Minecraft Launcher on your PC. Yes, since this pertains to the Java Edition of Minecraft, you will need the Java Edition of Minecraft installed on your computer.

1. Find the Installations tab at the top of the Launcher and click it. The Installations tab is where you can manage different game versions, including but not limited to the snapshots.
2. There are a few boxes under Versions located in the upper right-hand corner. Find Snapshots and select the box next to it. After a few moments, you should see the latest snapshot appear in the list of versions you have to choose from.

1. Once the snapshot appears, all you have to do is click the green Play button next to it. The Minecraft Launcher will take a moment to prepare and download the new snapshot, then Minecraft should start up like normal.

1. And you’re good to play! It really is that simple.

Wrapping up

Whenever you’re done with messing with the snapshot, select the vanilla version of Minecraft to play it instead. The most significant advantage of the Java Edition’s beta is that you don’t have to choose one or the other. You can jump back and forth as much as you want, without having to worry about jumping through hoops or constantly enrolling in different programs.
