Solution Manager 7.2 SP 08,NW 7.4 Migration Post Steps – X– Java Stack

After successfully completing java stack migration using SWPM Export Import method which I have explained in previous blogs ,there are few post steps which needs to be performed right after the migration process.

Lets continue with post steps in this blog

->First generate the JAVA license (Select HANA DB) from SAP Support Portal and then start the java stack system

->On Java Server run the below hdbuserstore command

>hdbuserstore SET DEFAULT “:port no” Schema Name

Let me give few basic understanding about hdbuserstore in this blog.

hdbuserstore is a tool installed along with SAP HANA Client package installation.It is used to store connection information to SAP HANA systems securely on the client so that client applications can connect to SAP HANA without users having to enter this information. It is typically used by scripts connecting to SAP HANA.

The secure user store allows you to store SAP HANA connection information, including user passwords, securely on clients. In this way, client applications can connect to SAP HANA without the user having to enter host name or logon credentials.

The secure user store is installed with the SAP HANA client package. After you install the SAP HANA client, the hdbuserstore program is located in one for the following directories:

The secure store runs on all platforms supported by SAP HANA client interfaces and SAP BASIS 7.20 EXT.

To access the secure store using JDBC, there are two connect options: key and virtual Host Name . key is the hdbuserstore key that you use to connect to SAP HANA, while virtual Host Name specifies the virtual host name. This option allows you to change where the hdbuserstore searches for the data and key files.

To connect, define the hdbuserstore key using the key connect option. JDBC only supports reading the key and data files for existing keys and using those keys to connect to SAP HANA.

Managing the Secure Store

Connection information stored in the secure store is saved in the secure store file SSFS_HDB.DAT .

For Linux/UNIX systems, the path is defined by /.hdb/ where:

  • HOME is the home directory of the user that uses the logon information.
  • COMPUTERNAME is the computer name.

If the path does not already exist, then the hdbuserstore program creates it.

The secure store’s content is stored in a platform-dependent way. You cannot copy the secure store from one platform to another.

Using Stored Connection Information

When the secure store is accessed in the context of the correct operating system user, you can open it with a user key.

Client How to Connect Using a Stored User Key
SAP HANA HDBSQL In SAP HANA HDBSQL, you specify the key to be used with the -U connection option: hdbsql -U
ODBC In ODBC, you specify the user store key with the @ sign in your data source: servernode=@
ABAP ABAP uses the key DEFAULT by default.

Command hdbuserstore list provides information about DATA and KEY file as shown below

->Now login to NWA (Netweaver Administrator) of java stack

http://:5XX00/nwa (XX->Instance No)

Reinstall the JAVA license key (Select HANA DB)

->Next add the java system to Hana studio as a tenant database.

->Cross check the LMDB whether new technical java system updated or not, sometimes LMDB doesn’t update the new server in that case we need to manually create new technical system in LMDB

Execute t-code LMDB , navigate to Technical systems->Select Type ABAP or JAVA ->Create

Click Resynchronise technical System from SLD

Click Save and navigate to Infrastructure Preparation in SOLMAN_SETUP

Under Mandatory Configurations Re-execute the Infrastructure Preparation step

I faced one error at step 2.2 Enable Connectivity->Check Java Software Prerequisites

>SOLMAN_SETUP->Infrastructure Preparation->’Check Java Software Prerequisites’ failed with error ‘ISAGENT_MIN_J5 10.5 component is not installed’

Error: ISAGENT_MIN_J5 10.5 component is not installed

For above error, implement below note in SAP system

As per the above note , there is a coding error after upgrading to SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 7.2 SPS 08, hence Implement note correction below.

2739682 – Activity ‘Check Java Software Prerequisites’- Implement this note in the respective SAP Solution Manager system and the again cross check step Infrastructure Preparation and execute selected activity, it shows error resolved.

->Configure your SAP Solution Manager 7.2 SPS 08 system using SOLMAN_SETUP.

Finally, after completing upgrade of the SAP Solution Manager 7.2 SPS 08 system needs to be configured as described in SAP Note 2227300.

Part 2 : SAP Solution Manager 7.2 SR1 (+ SPS03) : JAVA Stack Installation

Sun SWPM and select following (SAP Solution Manager 7.2 Support Release 1 >> SAP Solution Manager 7.2 JAVAP Support Release 1 >> MS SQL Server >> SAP System >> Application Server JAVA >> Standard System >> Standard System )

As previously mentioned always select Custom

For ABAP system I gave SID and SXA and for JAVA SXJ

Do not use ABAP database configure new DB

User setting must be as below since ABAP stack installation is creating users

No SLD registration for now

Continue with default option

Wait till installation complete and your both systems are up and running as below

Are you used multitenant database?

I have installed one DB instance with 2 Databases on it. Hope this information helps.

I am doing also a Solution manager 7.2 installation, but on Oracle 12c. Can you please describe in more detail how does the database architecture should look like for ABAP and for the JAVA systems? Are the databases 2 separate installations or MCOD or Multitenant? I did not find this information in the Master or installation guides.

One Oracle instance and 2 databases will work perfectly fine.

What is Java Stack for on solman 7.2 used for? In my case I have «monitoring module», «charm» and «test management», and I guess this functionality is fully supported over abap stack, isn’t it?

This is very common question from so many outer users.

For example if you want local SLD you need JAVA stack. For your DAA connectivity you need JAVA stack.

I did not include OS and DB on my docs. I think all basis guys know what and how to do.

I have followed the your steps to install solman 7.2 on Suse linux 12 and SAP ASE DB.

we planned to install ABAP + JAVA with DB instances(ASp and ASJ) on same machine, details below:

First I installed solman abap(SID ASP and DB SID ASP) instance and system was accessible without any issues.Then I installed java instance(SID ASJ and DBSID ASJ) successfully, but after installation of java stack I am unable to bring back the ABAP instance.when I am trying to start the ABAP instance its failing with permissions(Kernel) issue. I executed (saproot.sh ASP) command and tried change the permissions but no luck.
can you please check and guide me to resolve this issue.

what is you run «su — asjadm» and try to start SAP?

SAP Java monitoring Check list

Place the link of the respective java application in the browser and check whether the java application is opening:

If java is up and running, a screen similar to below will open.

i) Check whether there are network issues

ii) Check tablespaces occupancy levels at Oslevel and make sure sufficient space is there and if any tablespace is 100% full, action the same

iii) Check the default trace for any critical errors

iv) Check application log to determine any memory related issues

v) Check server node status at oslevel or through management console and action and bring up the java again.

To estimate the user load and to check the number of users logged onto the java portal :

Navigate to User Administration -> Activity Reports

i) Check “Number of users in the last 3 hours” report

ii) To figure out most active users,

Java Memory Consumption Report and Threads Reports :

These reports includes a chart of the memory usage of a cluster node and a chart related to the system and application thread pool.

Then navigate to Monitoring -> Java System Reports :

Here following reports can be taken by selecting the respective report from the drop down provided:

  • Capacity Planning : This report includes a chart representing the requests sent to J2EE Engine, a chart for the number of http and security sessions, and a chart of the communication between J2EE nodes
  • Resource Consumption : This report includes a chart of the memory usage of a cluster node, and a chart related to the system and application thread pool
  • Application Activities : This report includes a chart that represents the history of the activities of deployed applications
  • Slowest requests
  • Slowest components
  • User activities
  • Current activities

However from monitoring perspective, resource consumption report is most important to analyse the memory consumption.

Select resource consumption from the dropdown to view the memory statistics as below:

Click on Go to Detailed Chart link of the respective report to view detailed chart as below

Click Hint on charts link to analyse the report better.

Select the respective Instance, Cluster node and Time period from the provided dropdown boxes to view the reports belonging to the same

Table view for Threads report:

There are 2 types of views: Chart view and Table view. You can change the view by selecting the respective radio button.
