Enable, Disable JavaScript in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera on Windows 11/10
A few days back, we saw the difference between Java and JavaScript and how to disable Java. In this tutorial, we will see how to disable JavaScript in Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Firefox, and Opera browsers on Windows 11/10.
Effects of disabling JavaScript in your browser
JavaScript is a standard web programming language that delivers interactive web pages. JavaScript takes advantage of the enhanced functionality and dynamic interfaces that a website may have to offer.
If you disable it, your browsing speed is sure to improve dramatically. You will find your web pages loading really fast. But it could also break many cool interactive features on your favorite websites, like menus, sounds, sharing buttons, ads, etc. You may not be able to log in to websites or forums. Unlike “Java disablers” there are very few people who disable JavaScript – probably less than 5%. But if you’d like to disable it, then read on.
Disable JavaScript in Microsoft Edge
To disable JavaScript in Microsoft Edge Chromium browser, in the address bar, type the following and hit Enter:
edge://settings/content/javascript
In the window which opens, toggle the switches to Off or On position. You can also manage exceptions here.
Click OK and restart Edge.
Disable JavaScript in Chrome
If you want to disable JavaScript in Google Chrome, type the following in the address bar and hit Enter:
chrome://settings/content/javascript
In the window which opens, toggle the switches to Off or On position. You can also manage exceptions here.
Click OK and restart Chrome.
Disable JavaScript in Firefox
In Firefox now the option to disable JavaScript via Options > Content > Enable JavaScript has been removed.
Now to disable JavaScript in Firefox, you will have to type about:config in the address bar and hit Enter.
Search for javascript.enabled and double-click on it to toggle its value to False. Restart Firefox.
To re-enable JavaScript, set vale of javascript.enabled to True.
TIP: QuickJava addon for Firefox will let you instantly disable, enable, Java, JavaScript, Flash on the fly.
Disable JavaScript in Opera
To disable JavaScript in Opera browser, in the address bar, type the following and hit Enter:
opera://settings/content/javascript
In the window which opens, toggle the switches to Off or On position. You can also manage exceptions here.
Click OK and restart Opera.
Disable JavaScript in Internet Explorer
To disable JavaScript in Internet Explorer, open Internet Options > Security tab > Select Internet zone > Click Custom level.
In the window which opens, disable Active Scripting. Click Apply/OK and restart your Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Does Microsoft Edge support JavaScript?
Yes, JavaScript is supported in the Edge browser. Open edge://settings/content/javascript to enable or disable it. If the setting grayed out in your browser, it could be because of a Group Policy administrative setting.
How to enable JavaScript on Microsoft Edge?
To enable JavaScript on Microsoft Edge, open Edge and visit this address – edge://settings/content/javascript. Here, toggle the Allowed (recommended) setting to the On position and restart your browser.
The background
Ok, this is a toughie. I’m a Firefox user, and I don’t like Flash ads. They slow down my netbook, they slow down my Macbook, they sometimes play sound or obscure part of the page, all of which means as soon as I see a Flash ad I associate that advertiser with burning rage more than with good products.
The problem
That said, I don’t see how the Web can exist without advertisement. I’m also not convinced that ABP’s «acceptable advertising» functionality will actually encourage sites to change their advertising to serve static ads. For every technorati with an adblocker, there’s someone who likes shooting animated, cartoon ducks in a sidebar ad. So rather than trying to politically force the advertisers to change their practices, I’d like to find a client-side way to opt out of just Flash ads—without opting out of static ads or even animated GIFs (even a nice, smooth animated GIF is better than jerky, resource-consuming Flash).
Possible solutions
Turns out that if I disable Flash in about:addons , pretty much all advertisers actually detect the absence of Flash and serve me a static ad instead. This is fantastic: I can browse the Internet in peace and still support the sites I visit with ad views. It actually makes me more likely to read the ad and feel positively about it. Problem is, I haven’t found a way to disable Flash by default and enable it for whitelisted sites (or at least, not on OS X and Arch Linux. Embarrassingly, IE actually has a built-in way to whitelist plugins). There are plenty of addons and userscripts that, rather than disabling Flash outright, simply replace Flash content with nifty logos or «click to play» buttons. But that’s not what I want, and to be honest, scattering the same logo everywhere there’s flash content (i.e. everywhere) is kind of ugly. And a button on the toolbar to toggle Flash quickly isn’t quite right either, because there’s no whitelist. I’d like to be able to browse Wired with static ads, then open Youtube without having to click that button first (and then inevitably forget about it as soon as I browse somewhere else). Anyone got a solution? Or ideas about userscript ways to make this happen? I can’t be the only person who finds those little replacement icons even more jarring than the Flash ads themselves.
Как отключить flash в Google Chrome?
Google Chrome.
Google Chrome?
"C:\Documents and Settings\Antonio\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --disable-plugins
«C:\Documents and Settings\Antonio\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe» —disable-plugins
JavaScript: --disable-javascript
JavaScript: —disable-javascript
P.S. Mozilla Firefox.
Google Chrome

Shockwave Flash plugin
java-runtime.ru/kak-otkljuchit-java-v-brauzerah

Disable flash and javascript
can somebody please help, is it even possible to disable flash AND javascript? why does block flash become greyed out when you block javascript?
flashblock is redundant in current versions right? So instead you will advise me to go to tools->privacy->block flash.
but for this to work, you must have javascript enabled, if you disable javascript, flash becomes enabled. (see youtube for example, try yourself)
I just want to use this as a basic, simple browser, no funny jscript nonsense, no flash adverts, just simple normal browsing. Is that not possible? opera, chrome, and many more popular browsers have these options built in with a click of a button, but they dont support socks5 which I need.
any ideas? help is much appreciated
(without uninstalling flash from my pc, I need to use it with other browsers)
The plugins that You want to use must be in ./K-Meleon/plugins.
They are no more found automatically.
AFAIK that should work with K-Meleon also.

Another way to go is to enable the privacy toolbar and then toggle both java and javascript. Flash can be controlled with the flashblock macro.

Go to about:config & set plugin.scan.plid.all to false.
