Weapon Background [ edit ]

The Colt Python is a double-action revolver chambered in .357 Magnum, and was made by Colt’s Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut. It was first introduced in 1955 and was discontinued in 2005. Colt would later reintroduce the Python in 2020. The Python was the first among Colt firearms to be named after a snake (the others being Anaconda, King Cobra, Diamondback, Boa, and Viper), and was also sometimes referred to as a «Combat Magnum».

The Python was intended for the premium gun market, and was hand-fitted and polished by the best gunsmiths at Colt. It featured a ventilated rib on the barrel, a fine blued/nickel/stainless finish, a crisp double-action & single-action trigger pull, and high accuracy with a variety of .357 Magnum loads. It had a selection of barrel lengths: the most popular ones being 4 inch (10 cm), 6 inch (15 cm), and 8 inch (20 cm). The price tag of the Python was very high, much more so than other .357 revolvers from different manufacturers.

Famous firearm enthusiasts and writers such as Jeff Cooper, Ian V. Hogg, Chuck Hawks, Leroy Thompson, Scott Wolber, Renee Smeets and Martin Dougherty have described the Colt Python as the finest production revolver ever made. As a result of its good looks and great performance, it was popular with law enforcement agencies and civilians who could afford its price.

Overview

Python is most commonly used if you can make use of her repeating reflected buffs to trigger another Doll’s skills, such as with Lee Mod Skill 2.

Strengths

Reflective Buffs

Any buffs Python receives of FP/RoF/EVA/Acc/Crit Rate she will reflect these back onto the dolls currently on her tiles. This can trigger other Dolls’ Skills to activate, such as Lee Mod Skill 2 or M500 Mod Skill 2.

Good Damage HG

Provided she has the RoF buffs to reach max stacks, she can gain up to a 382% Damage self-buff.

Weaknesses

Tilescan

Only buffs others currently on her tiles.

Prefers Not To Be Kited

Bringing Python into a normal echelon with two other DPS will limit your kiting options as she really prefers standing still to reflect buffs to her teammates.

Full Analysis

As Python is a tilescan Doll, her Skill checks her tiles based on her current position and only Dolls currently on her tiles will receive buffs. This limits her kiting potential somewhat as you need to be careful with where you place her.

Tilescan demonstration

As Python only reaches a 100% chance of buffing herself at skill level 10, her skill should be maxed out if you intend to use her.

Team Options

5HG Requires 2 strong Damage dealing HGs to work well, Python can take this spot and reflect buffs back onto the other DPS to further enhance their damage output.

Python can also work quite well with Lee Mod, as the reflected buffs from Python will keep Lee Mod’s Skill 2 at max stacks.

5HG
Desert Eagle/Rhino Mk23/PPK Mod/None
Python/Rhino PPK Mod/Calico Mod/Mk23
HP-35/HS2000/None P22/Webley/None

For a 5HG echelon, any two of Deagle, Python and Rhino should typically always be present, but the rest of the team largely depends on whether you need more survivability or just more damage, as well as whether it is night or not.
Deagle pierces shields, Rhino has better FP multipliers for fighting armored targets and Python gives additional buffs.

Deagle should always be in position 7 if present, Python should always be in position 4 if present, and Rhino can take whichever of the two slots you don’t bring.

This echelon doubles down on the reflective buffs from Python with Lee Mod’s skill 2 reflection. Note that Lee should not be the leader of this echelon for this to work best. The tank up front needs to be able to prevent the other two columns from having to move. You are supposed to kite the second HG to pos7 next to Lee to enable her to have 3 stacks of Skill 2 active.

Lee Mod is added with the major event Longitudinal Strain.
