This repository contains tools for working with the MD-1702 based radios over USB. It is based on the reverse-engineered communication protocol and can be used with Baofeng DM-1702 (V02 and L02 firmware branch) and DM-X radios (theoretically also with DM-1703 and other radios sharing this codebase).

Please do NOT use it to write data to a device with L05 firmware and MD1706-V2 version of the bootloader, as it is not tested and it was reported to brick the device in the issues. (The tool is working with L05.000.05 firmware itself on older MD1702-V1/V2 devices).

Please do not remove safety checks in the code concerning the device/bootloader version, they are there as a protection against bricking the radio.

I have tried to make the tool similar to popular md380-dfu tool by Travis Goodspeed, KK4VCZ. The stm32-dfu from his repository could be used if somebody wants to switch the CPU to internal STM32 bootloader mode, but it is not necessary.

As the radio is detected by Linux incorrectly as an USB lp port, the driver must be removed for the device.

• md1702-dfu reads and writes MD1702 codeplugs, firmware and time. Run it without an argument to show help.
• md1702-codeplug allows you to import contacts to CPS and split CPS into several CSV files which can be merged together with the CPS later to allow easier batch editing
• md1702-gfx allows you to convert the boot logo graphics into an image editable in external tool and back, and to show the boot logo image extracted from the radio.
• md1702-rec allows you to extract RAW DMR audio files, which can be decoded using a modified dsd code found in my repository
• linux_remove_usblp.sh calls script udev/scripts/unbind_bao1702.sh with sudo.

Additional steps for Linux-based installations with udev rules

# Clone the repository to MD1702-tools cd MD1702-tools sudo cp -r udev/* /etc/udev/ 

(The 59-baofeng-1702.rules and unbind_bao1702.sh files are copied to /etc/udev/ in order to allow users to access the radio over USB without having to use sudo or root permissions and remove the driver. User should be a member of dialout group. If it is not, you may use sudo usermod -a -G dialout $USER to add your user, then log in and out).

If you do not wish to modify the udev, and you do not use any other usblp device, you can prefix the md1702-dfu each time with sudo modprobe -r usblp;

Flash updated firmware for Linux-based installations

To update firmware, an unencrypted firmware image is required.

Turn on radio in DFU mode to begin firmware update with USB cable:

• insert cable into USB.
• connect cable to DM-X/DM-1702.
• power-on the device by turning volume knob, while holding ‘#’ button. The device screen will remain black and it will stay in firmware update mode.
• run the md1702_dfu.py in upgrade mode supplying the firmware.

NOTE:

This page was written for the 1702 with firmware L02. The latest version of this radio is firmware L05. The CPS is different, so if you download the CPS from this site, make certain you use the one that matches your radios firmware version.

* Uses either the two-prong spkr-mic jack USB program cable, or a standard USB cable to program (radio also has USB mini/micro jack).

* Radio does APRS-GPS, but on digital only.

* To temporarily mute the sub-band, press & release the BACK button (to the right of the arrow buttons)

* I’ve used this CPS program on a WIN 10 and XP computer, and did not need to load a driver.

* With USB cable not connected, run the program on your PC, and then power on the radio.

After it powers up, then connect USB cable.

* Like many of these sub $100 DMR radios, the Groups listing and Digital Contact list are lumped together in one field.

* There is no «OK to Talk» beep at the beginning of a DMR transmission.

After loading the codeplug file into the 1702 software program, go in to:

General Setting — Parameters *In the RADIO ID field at the top, type in your 7 digit digital ID number.

note: you will need a digital radio ID; it’s easy & free. click: https://www.radioid.net/#!
click the box near the bottom of the page: «I AGREE TO THE ABOVE TERMS AND CONDITIONS» , and then click
«Register Account»

Save the file under a different name and upload it into your radio. You are now ready to start talking.

Each long press of the Zone Select button, will toggle to the next Zone. The Quick-List codeplug has two zones total; one for local analog repeaters. the other zone for Timz DMR repeater. The bottom line on the display shows which Zone you are in at the moment.

Use the up/dn arrows to change channels within a zone.

To temporarily mute the other VFO. quick press & release the BACK button (to the right of the arrow buttons).

Baofeng DM-1702 помощь. — Форум про радио / форум радиолюбителей

Всем добрый день.
Приобрел данную рацию (не в radioprofi). В комплекте приехало 2 кабеля для прошивки DMR раций через микрофонный вход, usb-microusb провода нет.
В одном из этих проводов лежал диск с софтом, но софт был для DM-5R,DM-1801,DM-1701. Для моей рации нифига нет.
Полазил в инете, почитал — скачал MD(External) Setup v1.00.66 en.exe.
Начал эту беду (рацию) подключать к компу. При первом подключении установился универсальный драйвер принтера.
При подключении рации к компу через провода — программа пишет, что Failed.
Пробывал считывать и с включенной рации и путем зажатия # потом включения рации (темный экран) — результата ноль.
Перебрал пару кабелей от телефонов (usb-microusb) -результат ноль.
Если запускать считывание с включенной рациией через микрофонные, то пишет PC Program USB Mode и перезапускается.
Не пинайте сильно, пожалуйста.

Все добрый день!
Проблема решилась.
Удаляем все, что было наставлено до этого, в том числе и отдельные пакеты драйверов. Перезагружаем.
Скачиваем с официального сайта retevis софт для rt72.
Ставим драйвер — перезапускаем.
На включенной рации втыкаем usb шнурок (прошивается только через него, подходит от android телефона) в рацию и в комп,открываем софт для RT72 и читаем конфигурацию с рации.
Вот так все просто.

Спешу поделиться родным баофенговским софтом для этой модели (DM-1702 прошивка L05.01.005). Сам долго его искал.
Для его работы (по крайней мере на Win10) не нужно ставить драйвер, т.е. видит станцию и шъёт при отображении в системе «Контроллеры USB/Нет подключенного принтера + Поддержка USB принтера». Работает одинаково, что с аудио-шнурком, что с micro-USB.

Через микро юсб порт.
Read data failed! и рестарт.
Пробовал CPS v1.00.66 и v1.00.76.

Update: ей нужна CPS v1.01.02
